Jean-Paul BERNARD

Soloist with Les Percussions de Strasbourg since 1985.
Artistic Director since 1998.


Jean-Paul Bernard was born in 1957 in Toulon, France.
He first trained as a trumpet player, then he played the drums in a rock band from 1978 to 1982.
He awarded First Prize for Percussion and Chamber Music by the Toulon French Conservatoire in 1985, class og Georges Van Gucht.
He attended jazz drum master classes with Daniel Humair and took up the zarb with Djamchid Chemirani.
He was a regular performer with Musicatreize ensemble from 1985 to 1996 and various ensembles.
He is a "Percustra" teacher (teacher of Percussion at the CFMI - Musician Training Center - in Selestat) and gives master classes in France and elsewhere.
He is part of national and international jurys.





Claude FERRIER

Soloist with Les Percussions de Strasbourg since 1992.

Claude Ferrier was born in 1964 in Avignon, France.
He was a self-taught musician before getting the Gold Medal for Percussion from the Avignon French Academy of Music in 1983.
He was graduated from the Lyon French Conservatoire in 1989, student of Georges Van Gucht and François Dupin and obtained the State Diploma in Percussion in 1989 and the CA Percussion teacher diploma in 2003.
He was extra percussionist with various national orchestras (the Paris Orchestra, The Lyon Opera, etc...) from 1987 to 1994 and he formed various chamber music ensemble (involving instrumentalists and actors).
Since 2005, he is teacher a Mulhouse's Conservatoire.




Bernard LESAGE

Soloist with Les Percussions de Strasbourg since 1992.

Bernard Lesage was born in 1968 in St Maur des Fossés, France.
He started percussion with Alain Jaquet.
He obtained the State Diploma in Percussion in 1989 and was graduated from the Lyon French Conservatoire in 1990, student of Georges Van Gucht et François Dupin. He also studied the piano.
He was soloist with the Percussions Claviers de Lyon from 1989 to 1992 and performed in various national orchestras before coming to Les Percussions de Strasbourg
He is a teacher of percussion at Les Percussions de Strasbourg school since 1996.




Keiko NAKAMURA

Soloist with Les Percussions de Strasbourg since 1981.

Keiko Nakamura was born in 1995 in Fukuoka, Japan.
She was graduated in piano and percussion from the Osaka Arts University, Japan in 1978.
She awarded first prize for percussion by the Strasbourg French Conservatoire in 1979. She won the bronze medal at the Geneva International Music Contest in 1981 and the Silver medal "International Public Incentive Award".
She ventured into African music.
She was Solo timpani player with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra  from 1981 to 1982.
She performed solo recitals and played in various ensembles and orchestras (Ensemble Moderne, Ensemble Intercontemporain...).
She attended master classes in France and elsewhere.
She is director at Les Percussions de Strasbourg school since 2005.




François PAPIRER

Soloist with Les Percussions de Strasbourg since 1996.

François Papirer was born in 1970 in Mulhouse, France.
He was the last integrated in the group.
He awarded the gold medal, the Accessit First Prize and the Regional award the Mulhouse Academy of Music in 1990 - 1991.
He obtained Diploma from the Freiburg-in-Breisgau School of Music in 1996. and was a teacher of Percussion at the Délémont Conservatoire, Switzerland.
He developed a passion for Indian drums (tablas).
In 2004, he awarded the international programme "Hors les Murs" from the Médicis Villa.





Olaf TZSCHOPPE

Soloist with Les Percussions de Strasbourg since 1992.

Olaf Tzschoppe was born in 192 in Kiel, Germany.
He obtained the Diploma from the Breiburg-in-Breisgau School of Music and was DAAD bursary student at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor - USA).
He is member of "Sur Plus" (contemporary music ensemble) in Freiburg and gives solo recitals in Germany and elsewhere.
He is percussionist with various ensembles (Ensemble Modern, Musik Fabrik Ensemble).
He was teacher of Percussion at the Freiburg School of Music  from 1991 to 1995 and since 2005, he is teacher at the Hochschule fur Kunste de Bremen in Germany.
